Where in the world are they from?
This species has been found in the waters near Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil.

What is the ideal number to keep together?
Juveniles will happily live in groups, but mature pairs will ideally be kept with a territory of around a foot across.

What water conditions do they require?
Temperature ranges of 22-30° Celsius and will accept 4.0 – 7.0 pH.

What should you feed them?
Variety of live and frozen food such as bloodworm, Artemia and Daphnia, supplemented by good quality, sinking dried foods of a suitably small size.

How compatible are they with other fish?
Not recommended for the general community aquarium.

Can they be bred in captivity?
This species is a biparental substrate spawner and is best bred in a dedicated set-up with no other fishes present.
